Born: <2005
Mother: Unknown

Laius is a powerfully built member of Unit J who has a vibrant, youthful countenance. She gave birth to a healthy, vivacious male calf in 2021.

Like other whales in her social group, Laius spends a great deal of time with members of Unit D. She and Jocasta, whose calf is nearly the same age, often share parental responsibilities with Drop from Unit D who is also a new mother.

The proud new mother was frequently seen swimming with her young calf during our 2021 field session.

Straight-line cut on right, scalloped bite on left fin
Smooth underside, no obvious markings
Two small divots on left fluke, serrated right fluke
