Rema is a juvenile member of Unit R. She is the daughter of Rita and is believed to have been born in 2014. We first documented Rema in 2016 when she was a curious and energetic calf who boldly approached our citizen scientists with a squid tendril hanging from her mouth.

She has since grown to be a self-assured juvenile who has assumed a more central position within her social group. We observed her swimming in formation with 5 members of Unit R during our 2021 field session.
